Worshipping in Purity

Leviticus 10:8-11- And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying, Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations: And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between clean and unclean; And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken into them by the hand of Moses.

There is no doubt that God wants to be worshipped a certain way. We see here certain instructions given to Aaron about what is to be brought into the tabernacle. The tabernacle is where public worship took place. God tells him not to bring wine or strong drink into the tabernacle, the punishment for that will be death. God was not playing around. God was also not playing around when he told Aaron's sons not to burn strange incense to him, they did, and it cost them their lives. We see this continues to be an issue today. Things of the world are brought into the worship service of God. Make no mistake, God is still displeased with this in the New Testament church. I have seen a "church" in Orlando that was half sanctuary, half brewery. Friends, God does not want cleanliness mixed with uncleanness when it comes to worship. When worship goes this astray, we must remember the rebuke Christ gave to the woman at the well; "Ye worship ye know not what" (John 4:22). This is why we worship the way we do. We must continue to keep the world out of the worship service. We sing acapella to use the instruments that God gave us, our voice; and avoid using instruments made by the hands of men, which also may tempt us into bringing in worldly music. This is why we offer prayer and beg God to bless our efforts. And this is why a man of God, called by God, stands before God's people and attempts to preach the word with clarity. We must keep worship pure, in hopes of pleasing the Lord.
