Proverbs 3:35- The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools.

Let us take a look at this verse as it applies to here and now. The wise are people who follow after Godly wisdom and apply it to their everyday living. Remember there is a difference between earthly wisdom and Godly wisdom (James 3:15). The wise receive an inheritance or possession of glory. We often think that to inherit something requires death but this is not always the case. If one is wise now, they gain possession of glory. We often think of glory as what awaits us in heaven, yet this is referring to the glory we receive today. Glory can mean; abundance, riches, honour, splendor, dignity, reputation, and reverence. Yes all these things exist in heaven in different ways but we can receive these things as we dwell on earth, if we are wise.

Now if we are foolish our promotion is shame. Interesting wording. When one is in the state of being a fool it is lower than shame. Perhaps he comes to and when his foolish behavior is over the promotion is shame. It's still a sad state but yet a promotion. So again, as is the pattern in Proverbs, the child of God has two paths. Which will we take today? Will we be wise and inherit glory or foolish and be promoted to shame? Easy choice, I believe.

F.Y.I if one has Godly wisdom this shows that they have already been born again of the Spirit, this means they were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, this means Christ died for them on the cross, and this means they have already inherited eternal glory through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
