Purposes of God's Comfort
Purposes of God's Comfort

Purposes of God's Comfort

We see here in the second letter to the church at Corinth, God given the title of the God of all comfort. Yes, true comfort only comes from God. When we have tribulation, he is there to comfort us, for he has promised to not leave us comfortless (John 14:18). He is not just with us in some tribulation but in all tribulation, which is better. We thank God when he grants us this blessing, and yet there is a duty that comes with it. The duty is to share this comfort, to share our experience, and to share our testimony with others that are in any trouble. Again not just some or certain trouble but we are to help others in any trouble. We are directed to comfort others with the same comfort that God has comforted us with in the past. The world has many "ideas" or "remedies" of that which brings comfort but we are not instructed to encourage others to turn to such things. Rather, we are instructed to encourage others to turn to God. For this comfort is that which sustains us, while the comforts of this world are short and often come to nothing. He is the God of all comfort! May we turn to him in times of distress.

Your Servant,
