Proverbs 3:21-22- My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Much like anything that brings order and stability it tends to flee if not kept. The child of God must work at keeping his way in his eyesight. If we don't his ways and teachings depart and the ways of the world creep in. We must work to keep the wisdom of God in our thoughts and work at putting his wisdom onto action. As we continue through the book of Proverbs, I am noticing lots of repetition, yet other important aspects of Christian living sprinkled in. Here we see the word discretion added, which means purpose. There is a purpose to life and this is mainly to bring glory to the name of Christ. The good news here is that we can partake in this no matter what stage of life we are in. Therefore the child of God always has a purpose in life. And again, we must fight to keep this thought in mind, lest we be discouraged. Sound wisdom and a sound purpose to life is life to our soul. It gives us meaning and hope. It's grace that is hung around our neck. When we carry out Godly wisdom and purpose people see as with a necklace, that we are indeed children of grace.
