Proverbs 3:34- Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace to the lowly.
If one would mock God, be prepared for him to mock you. For God is not bothered by those that would scoff at him. For the mocking of God is unfounded yet we deserve to be scoffed at by him. We would be better off to find ourselves in the second category. To be a lowly servant of God is much better. Lowly means to be humble or meek. Those that have this disposition are promised grace from the Father. They do not receive grace because they are this way, for that would be earning grace, which is not possible. Yet God in his sovereignty gives grace to those he would and he prefers to give grace to those that are lowly instead of scoffers. After all, we are all sinners and do not deserve the blessings of God. We receive these blessings by grace and if God wants to give his grace to those behaving a certain way, that is his business. God looks down favourably to those that follow after the things of the Spirit, not to those who follow after things of the flesh. May we all do our best to walk humbly, meekly, and lowly the remainder of the week, for we sure need his grace.
In Christ,
