Proverbs 4:2- For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
To make this verse most applicable to everyone, we look at it as our heavenly father giving us doctrine. For certainly there are some earthy fathers that would give bad doctrine and bad law. Yet we know that the law of God is good if used lawfully (1st Timothy 1:8). We also know that there are some parts of the law, mainly ceremonial, that have been done away with being fulfilled in Christ. We also know that we delight in the law of God after the inward man (Romans 7:22). So then we should recognize the importance of the doctrine of Christ that was given to him from his Father in heaven and we should not forsake the moral law of God. Have you ever wondered why it feels good when you do the right thing? When you keep a portion of the law? It is because of the Spirit that dwells in you. For keeping the law, pleases God. Do you ever think why God blesses you in righteous living? It's because obedience pleases the Lord. So then let us be thankful that we have good doctrine and may we never look at the holy law of God and think that we have no use for it. The law is our school master, leading us to Christ. We see that we can't keep the law but we know there is one who did and that's why we worship him.
In Christ,
