Dwelling in a Different Land
Dwelling in a Different Land

Dwelling in a Different Land

Genesis 37:1- And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.

There certainly seems to be a multitude of blessings when families stick together, especially Christian families. I have seen great benefits of this when families are able to help each other out. However, also see that this is not always what God would have us do. We see Abraham pick up and leave his home country, and here we see where Jacob is dwelling in a land where his father was a stranger. What's important then is that we go where the Lord would have us. He may keep us in the same town our whole life, he may send us to a different state, and he may even lead us to a different country. Certainly there's a way to distinguish what the Lord's will is when making these decisions. The most important is to see if there is a strong church in the new area that is preaching the truth of Christ. Other than being led to establish a church in a certain area, would God lead us to a place where there is no church? No spiritual family? No means by which to be spiritually fed? These things must be considered when stating "It's the Lord's will I go". May the Lord speak to our hearts in these situations. If Jesus goes with me I'll go and if he's with me now, I'll stay.
