The Cleansing Hand of Jesus
The Cleansing Hand of Jesus

The Cleansing Hand of Jesus

Exodus 4:6-9- And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, it was leprous as snow. And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.

We see in the Bible that leprosy represents sin. Moses here wants to show a sign to Pharaoh so he will believe that God sent him. He gives him two things to do; one was casting his rod down and it becoming a serpent, the other was the curing of the leprous hand. These miracles are quite incredible and yet we see a deeper meaning. The deeper meaning here is that only the Lord has the power to cleanse us from out sin. Once the hand of Moses was eaten up with the disease, only God had the power to turn it back to normal. We also see this power with the Lord Jesus Christ as he comes down from preaching the sermon on the mount.

Matthew 8:1-3- When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

We see here the power of Christ to cleanse us from our sins, only he can do it. He paid for our sins on the cross and he cleansed us from out sins in the new birth. I am thankful that Christ was willing to do that, as he was willing to cleanse the leper. When the Lord Jesus touches us, we are immediately cleansed. Praise God!
