For Preachers to Keep Preaching

Acts 16:6-7- Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

Making an attempt to preach and not being able to is devastating to a preacher. Yet we see that even Paul and Timothy struggled with this. Why were they not able to preach? It's because the Spirit did not want them in these areas. Note that just because the Spirit does not want certain preachers to preach in certain areas, does not mean that the Spirit is against the gospel being preached in these areas entirely, for the Apostle Peter would preach in Galatia where Paul was forbidden at this moment. My encouragement to preachers is if the Spirit moves you from a certain location, keep preaching somewhere else. We will see that even though Paul and Timothy are not blessed in these locations, the Spirit will show them where to go.

Acts 16:9-10- And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over to Macedonia, and help us. And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavored to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

Although the Lord did not bless them in the initial regions, he did bless them to preach in Macedonia. Paul and Timothy did not let a dry period of preaching deter them from preaching. God's ministers are called to preach; whether it be in a small town, a big city, or another country, God wants us preaching. May we always remember this, especially in the hard times. We must never cease to proclaim the word of God. We must strive on. We mustn't quit, for there is work still to be done. There is a cause, there is a purpose. May we continue to preach and glorify the name of the Lord wherever the Lord would have us to do so.

In Christ,
