Isaiah 28:5-6- In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people, And for a spirit in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to gate.
THis is a prophecy of the Lord's glory coming to be in the midst of a rebellious nation. Ephraim was a nation taken in pride and drunkenness (v3). The Lord declares that a punishment is coming for these actions. However, there is a ray of hope, for in this time God declares that his glory will show forth in a diadem of beauty. The residue of the people will wake up, see the Lord, and know that he is God. How wonderful!
If you were to continue on reading you will find after the two verses above more gloom and doom is spoken of. In the middle of two very harsh rebukes and prophecies from the Lord, is some light. We may think to ourselves that we are experiencing something similar. We look around and observe a lot of ungodliness. Even though this be the case, we should never count out the Lord. THis may just be the time that he shines brightest in our lives, family, church, community, and nation. He is a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty. Thank you Lord, for your amazing grace!
